Have been involved in a Houston,Texas
car, auto, truck or 18 wheeler accident?

If the answer is yes, you have you been in a Texas vehicle accident, then you may be permitted to collect some sort of compensation. Many times, an accident victim may suffer soft tissue damage, such as whiplash, as a result of being rear ended, even at seemingly low speeds.

This type of injury can be difficult to diagnose and may not even show up for a few days after the accident itself. It is important to consider this and how not being informed could potentially negatively affect the rest of your life.

Do NOT speak to the Insurance Agent!
The other driver's insurance agent is not looking out for your best interests, no matter what he or she says to you. More likely than not, he or she is trying to get out of any responsibility to you regarding your injuries or potential injuries. It is best that you do not speak with them at all.

What To Do if You Are in an Accident
Follow these steps if you happen to get into an accident:

1. Most importantly, stay calm; do not panic and leave the scene of the accident.

2. Notify the police and or medical assistance if someone is hurt. Record any immediately visible bodily injuries as well as any damage to property.

3. Make sure to obtain the following information from the other driver(s) involved in the accident: name, address, phone number, drivers license number (including expiration date), license plate number, registration, and insurance information, including the specific insurance policy number, and, if possible, the agent’s name.

4. If the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident is not owner of the car, you should also obtain the owner's name, address, phone number and insurance information.

5. Seek out all witnesses to the accident and get their names, addresses and phone numbers in case there is a disagreement later on as to how the accident happened.

6. In the event that the police will not come to the accident location, make a police report immediately after obtaining all of the necessary information at the scene itself by going to the local police department of the city where the accident occurred.

7. Seek medical attention even if you only think that you may be injured. Sometimes, serious injuries are not immediately visible.

8. You may still file a claim if the driver and/or owner of the other car does not have insurance by filing the claim under the uninsured motorist coverage of your policy (if you have it).

9. Do not give a statement to anyone but the police at the scene or at the police station.

10. Contact our office to be sure that your legal rights are protected. We would be happy to discuss your case and options with you during your free consultation. Try not to discuss liability at the scene, as the issue can be complicated. Remember, there is only a certain amount of time during which you can file a claim, so these steps should be taken as soon as possible.
